Some illusions refuse to leave without one last scuffle.

I've always loved this one, Marylinn, and Donovan here is so young.

Elisabeth - It would not stop playing in my head last night; I had to do something. Isn't he so brand new and doesn't the time seem like it was, at most, just a few years ago? xo

Oh god, this was so very early on, one of the first we fell in love with of all the many great musicians in those days.

Sara and I saw him just a couple of years ago in Boulder. We were 2 rows away from him in a small club. I was in Heaven (or was I "Wearing my Love like Heaven"...???!) until I realized that he's about 5'4 to my 5'9.....sigh....still. That voice.....thanks for this trip back. Now I'm a baby hippie with flowers in my hair and an embroidered peasant blouse.....

This song always made me a little sad. I saw Donavon with my mom years ago and was so impressed with his candid and casual nature.

I wonder if, when our generation has breathed it's last, if the music of our generation will carry on or be lost in time?

WOW, the golden years of folk music. He's a baby.

Rubye - In addition to always loving the song, I gave in the spell of this video of him, so young. How can it be that long ago? The soundtrack of our lives. xo

Lisa - A late friend referred to her beau, regarding their height difference, as 'perfection in miniature.' I know the cherry blossoms are out in D.C., time for peasant blouses and flowers in our hair. How fun that you and Sarah got to see him in a close-up venue. Do you know where we can lease a time machine? xo

Kerry - So much about memory, especially connected to music, has that bittersweet undercurrent for who and what are gone. There seems such an innocent freshness to this clip of him. xo

Robert - I don't think our music has any more or less lasting value than that of other generations. We just happen to have deeper feeling for it. I assume that as long as there are beings to hear it and devices on which it can be played, it will remain. I hope so.

Beth - Our age of innocence. Donovan appears with Dylan in a scene from Scorsese's NO DIRECTION HOME. Young as Dylan was, Donovan was younger, just, as you say, a baby. xo
