Poetry and dream

Water Dreaming 072 by Walangari Kamtawarra, on-line gallery here
"Poetry is not only dream and vision; it is the skeleton architecture of our lives. It lays the foundations for a future of change, a bridge across our fears of what has never been before."
Audre Lorde

When one is not a poet, the only choice left is to get as close as possible. The apprenticeship is forever and worth each agonizing, deleted, reconsidered word that moves one forward.

I wish I could transfer my dreams into words, as others have done here, Marylinn. What music I might create. But I am too earth bound.

As you say we can only try.

Elisabeth - That is the feeling exactly, too earth bound. Certainly now and for a while. Perhaps it is something from which one may recover. I will hold that thought for us. xo

poetry is distillation, a gathering in and impressionistic. without it, we are poor.

Beth - Part of the post that didn't get posted talked of alchemy - the distillation aspect of the process. Without poetry, we are less than poor, we are lost. Tonight, in this moment as I feel somewhere south of 30, I'll just add: POETS ROCK. xo
