Full moon in Scorpio

Frosted amber mercury glass moon ornament from Dept. 56, approx. 5 inches diameter, rises and sets in the curio cabinet.

Thinking moon thoughts, wanting to sing moon songs. On one of their yearly CDs, with each grade level writing, composing and performing an original piece with the help of my music specialist brother, a class offered the never-to-be-forgotten "Throwing Pizzas at the Moon." It couldn't hurt and might just be the gift for which our orbiting body has been waiting. Consolation prize: the pizzas fall back to Earth and land cheese side up.

In one of the truest rock-and-roll voices ever, Joe Cocker sings his moon song.

Oh yes...it's an Uber moon alright! Just glanced at it coming up...the closest it will come to our world this year...Gotta love Joe singing this. We were watching him the other night on the telly blowing everyones minds at Woodstock with "A Little Help from my Friends." Brillliant.

Apropos of nothing other than pizzas falling from the sky, did you read Annie Proulx's Accordian Crimes? Somewhere in that novel, a pizza does indeed fall from the sky, with no explanation. I felt as if Ms. Proulx was standing in the shadows, having a private chuckle, observing her reader trying to make sense of it.

Kerry - Oh yes, I do love Joe singing this, and love him at Woodstock with "A Little Help from My Friends." I need to see again the doc of the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour when everyone was in love with Rita Coolidge (pre-Kristofferson)-Delta Lady. So much trivia for one mind to contain. A fine moon. xo

Susan - (I have a link I will mail you of stunning moth mugs.) Now, on to business: Dept. 56 is a giftware manufacturer, for which my sister was a sales rep long ago. The oversize mercury glass ornaments were made, as far as I know, just one year and became collectible immediately. They never even reached the stores in Pasadena. Ebay is the only place I know to look, and I did, briefly, and there was a white milky moon face ornament which was not chopped liver but I'm sure it is not one of the jumbo ones. Dept. 56 and secondary market have been bedfellows for decades. If you love the hunt, you have a new assignment. xo

T. - One of my favorite expressions, apropos of nothing...and no, I haven't read that, else we would probably have had an additional reference, if I remembered it. Thanks for the image. Yes, I imagine she was chuckling. xo

Saturday night's super moon was spectacular! We noticed while in the car, driving back home after dining out. I was grateful my husband was driving. I think I would have had to pull over, and just sit with it for a while. But instead, I followed it the whole way home, thinking, is it real, is it really real?

Oh what a wonderful world. :)

(That's some amber moon you have, Marylinn!)

Jayne - What a fine night to be out. Yes, I would have made a poor driver with THAT right in front of my nose. it doesn't take so very much to be happy, does it? xo
