M. Kelly for Rubbermoon. |
Somewhere between the designations of matron and crone, my right eyebrow mostly disappeared. Thyroid is the best guess anyone can give, but is it too much or too little? I see myself having two choices: grow long bangs or find glasses that mask the deficiency. This is not complaint, for to whom would I complain, but merely observation. It seems we leave bits of ourselves in our wakes, the parts that fall off or erode. If only we could follow that trail of breadcrumbs back to the restore point, lessons learned. Let me close with Grace Paley's apt, memorable title, "In time which made a monkey of us all."

grace hugged me once. and i mean that both literally & figuratively; she was a special NYC-brand magical almost mythological character...and was incapable of speaking falsehoods.
my eyebrows also seem to have wandered off in search of a more attentive owner...
How about a rubber eye stamp? — tiny fruits flowers, insects encircling the orb. No one's going to notice a dwindled brow.
Is that what's happening to my brows? Mystery solved. Age or thyroid, neither gives any quarter. Ah.
Doesn't that happen to all of us? No? Well, at least I know I'm in good company. I have a brow pencil to darken the bits that are left, but I rarely use it--I'm afraid I'm not much of a painter. ;)
Susan - Not much can compare to being hugged by grace/Grace and being told the truth. Perhaps there is a place where all the missing eyebrows gather, like a home for retired revolutionaries. They can reminisce about better days. I, obviously, was not the best steward of mine. xo
Mine are disappearing cuz they're GRAY. So I get 'em colored at the brow sharpening place. My one vanity. Well, except for my shoe fetish.
The Native ladies have no brows to begin with, so they draw ones on, very creative swoops and right angles.

What the hell?
Ernest Borgnine Eyebrows. Have to go after them with a weed whacker.
Penelope - If only...in my heart I've been 'that' woman, but somehow she doesn't quite manifest in the outside world. But I will hold the thought. It would make the missing follicles moot. It makes me smile. :)
Angella - No time off for good behavior either. xo
Jayne - As Penelope mentioned, if I could illustrate the missing brow, I might do okay. But trying to make a pencil line look organic...alas, no. We now have another club to form. xo
Beth - Ah, the swoops...again, the faint heart. If there were enough left here to color...a good option. Is a shoe fetish vanity or passion? I say the latter. xo
Rebecca - To be so vexed again. Though there is usually the ONE Hugh Griffith (http://www.aveleyman.com/ActorCredit.aspx?ActorID=7051) renegade in the wrong place that then must be yanked. Count your blessings. xo
Marylinn, this little gal is so sweet. Thanks for visiting my blog and your lovely facebook post.
