In the pumpkin patch
For all the people and places in this hemisphere for whom autumn approaches, meet Julie Whitmore Pottery. The piece shown is called There's A Bluebird in My Pumpkin Patch. Her work has been described as French Faience style. Each piece is hand-built and therefore one-of-a-kind
Don't you just want to go bake a pie or at least put on an apron and striped stockings? I do and it's nearly 100 degrees here. Her work is just that persuasive.

yay, I found your blog!
I remember so well doing this piece, and just painted for fall my first witch of the year (on a spoon)
Can't wait to find some pumpkins for the house soon. Happy fall to you
xx

so lovely! It reminds me of the 'Madeline' books of my childhood...and pumpkin pies too!
Julie - Welcome. Please let us know where/when we can see any new pieces. The first witch of the year. Now I know it's not entirely summer any more. Happy fall to you, too. xo
Kerry - Hard to find the words for such gentle, original charm. I can see the connection with "Madeline," vignettes of little illustrated lives. xo
Gorgeous! I'd have trouble walking away from her.

Oh bog the Hansel and Gretle pinched cups with animals on them. SWOON!
Rebecca - Julie's nearly indefinable quality that leaves one feeling peaceful and as though things will turn out better than we had any reason to hope. There are such magicians among us. I will go and look very closely at Hansel and Gretel. xo
We here on the central coast are blessed to count Julie among our residents. She comes into the Cambria Library now and then and we get to chat. Beautiful work!
Erin in Morro Bay
Wonderful, just wonderful.
Erin - What a treat. I think of all the wonderful Cambrians who stop by your desk. Julie's work just transports me. xo
Beth - I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I think holding a piece of Julie's pottery would actually lower blood pressure. An experiment I hope to try one day. xo
Love it . . . striped stockings, indeed! xoxoxo
Karen - Anyone who thinks striped stockings are just for witches better think again. xo
