Time trio with a soundtrack

Poster by Fred Babb

Ram Dass, BE HERE NOW

Here is the site with the original footage from which the Booker T. video by kiddysoulgirl99 was borrowed, featuring Cab Calloway, Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, Lena Horne and the Nicholas Brothers.  Which tells me in this exploration of time we are also acknowledging timelessness.

Original art by Pretty Scruffy
I rest my case.

Well here I am settling in for the night, Marylinn, and you go and wake me right-the-heck up! I never tire of this Booker T delight. (Hubby sitting nearby says, Hey, that was in Blues Brothers! Mmhmm.)

Darling bracelets!

Time, yes, in the face of creativity--absolutely meaningless. ;)

Jayne - Some darn thing comes along and, pfffft!, there go our plans. Hope you weren't awake too long. Listening to this yesterday, I may have noticed for the first time that it has a surf music vibe...the steady organ beat, certain chords (I think). I just keep coming back to time. xo

ahhh.. you love Pretty Scruffy too?

I agree, time slips by when you are creating.
even when you are shelling peas in a meaningfully mindful way..

Denise - I first saw Pretty Scruffy in one of your posts and was knocked clean over by the watches. I would love to have a contact for the artist, Bec Snelling, from whom P. Scruffy bought hers, but she says there is no website or blog. Even sharpening pencils and I imagine ironing your fabrics become meaningful, focusing acts, which also dissolve time. xo

O I love the dancin' I 'm going daning tonight, but not in a big hat and heels. I'd break my ankle and that would be the end of my dancing career.

Beth - Few of us are meant for the heels, let alone the hats. Heeding The Call is the only purpose. Your dancing career is too important to us all. Whirl away. xo

Marylinn, I'm catching up on your posts, and was so happy to see the work of Fred Babb here. He had a studio and home here in Cambria and it was a wonderful place, I got to meet him and talk with him at a couple of dinner parties too, where he was funny and kind.

Julie - My father lived in Cambria and Fred Babb generously contributed drawings to a newsletter he published. I can imagine how funny and kind he must have been, reading his thoughts in the poster book. I did an earlier, more extensive fan post about him and his capacity for inspiration. Cambria is cool for so many reasons. xo http://marylinnmlkelly.blogspot.com/2011/06/class-our-guest-today-is-fred-babb.html
