Not that long ago, in World War II baby years, an artist named Sarah Lugg dominated the imaginations of aspiring collage makers and savers of small, meaningful and found objects. Her work was shown from the cover of Victoria magazine to the card racks of better stationery stores. There were books, calendars (more than one, I think), articles, prints. Now, in the age of way too much information, her whereabouts seem to be unknown.
Probably best known for her collaged shipping tags, a look at sample work demonstrates the influence she had on today's journalers and mixed media artists as found in the pages of multiple Stampington Publications.
I thought of Sarah's art the other day, had to call a friend to help me remember her name (I being the World War II baby) and hoped she was even now pursuing her passion with vigor, gusto. It seems not, but her books can still be found at Amazon and likely other places.

I have always loved Sarah's art. She was an inspiration to all us back in the day, and her work is just as fresh today.

Erin - The huge question is where has she gone? Her influence is everywhere in our particular sphere and yes, still just as fresh. xo
I've wondered about her often as well. I've saved that same Victoria magazine, have some gift wrap and maybe even gift cards with her design on them. Her tag art was very inspiring. Going off now to search for some of it. Has she really slipped into obscurity, I hope not.
Barbara - Once I started the search, I did order a book that I didn't have, Amazon to the rescue, and I treasure in particular calendar pages, not sure if the Victoria is still around. I thought it interesting, perhaps unusual, that there was no current info, for she must have a whopping fan base, even if she's not doing her art. Thank you for commenting. xo

Sfc - Hello, thank you for commenting. It seems unlikely - yet true - that an artist who was so high profile just vanished. I still have some notecards (or did I already mention that?) An entire calendar would be a treasure. xo
I have a framed print of hers on the wall beside my bed. It's sea shells on tags. I often look at it, and then Google her to see if she is still making art. I first learned of her in Victoria magazine as well.
