Choose your own adventure

Find beauty not only in the thing itself but in the pattern of the shadows, the light and dark which that thing provides.
Junichiro Tanizaki

Without shame, I have hijacked Susan T. Landry's idea of shadow visuals for my own, not-clearly-thought-through purposes.

Anthony Pham's copyrighted photo of a polarized filter casting a shadow heart.

Shadows and the sense of weather leaning in with too much weight; a drunken suitor, a tense salesman short of his quota. Today it all seems to be symbol and metaphor. Projections and predictions.

And a heart-shaped shadow, cast by an object nothing like it.

Namaste, dear Marylinn

Just letting you know I'm here and listening. Everything does indeed seem to be symbol and metaphor these days; what we thought was real has become illusion and illusion is garnering and gathering ever more substance. I think often of the 'smush' in the pupa as the caterpillar goes through its necessary dissolution before the muddle is replaced by imaginal cells that - through immense patience, effort and focused intent - become the butterfly. How wonderful it would be if everything we pay loving attention cast a heart-shaped shadow. Thanks to you and Susan for these tender-yet-powerful images.

Sending you loving good thoughts, the same as always - Claire

Claire - Namaste. Love and peace as we reside in our transitional states, either lady-like, with gloved hands folded in our laps, or thrashing like wind-whipped palms. Today I choose to believe more than we know DOES cast a heart-shaped shadow. Some information just takes such a long time to arrive. xo

i feel like a celebrity, so clever am i at appropriating other people's imagery (!)

who knows why my mind jumped to shadow art the other day?

i think perhaps i was not quite energized enough to be fully blogging, but needed to make my version of the Queen's limp hand wave, to let my friends know i am still out here.

you, my friend, are the B. E. S. T.

Susan - Your version of the Queen's limp hand wave (surely the pocketbook impedes movement) caught my eye, for which I thank you. xo
