It is a week to think of friends, one just departed, to ponder the connections that flourish and endure because friendship is grace. To all who stop here to read, perhaps comment, my deep appreciation. Today is Blog's 7th birthday. In the past I called it an anniversary. Today we have candles. If I'm very lucky, a bit of cake may appear.
What better way to mark an event than with a new-to-me artist. JiHyeon Lee and her soul-nourishing, wordless book POOL.
In Maria Popova's exploration of POOL (see link above), Neil Gaiman is quoted as saying, "Behind every pair of eyes, there's somebody like us." Thank you for being here, for returning. Please put sprinkles on everything today, with my blessing.

Happy Birthday...and many more!!
Happy Blogday and thank you for all the everything.
Love,
Rebecca
Happy blogaversary! I love coming here to see what you've written or curated!
Sylvia - Thank you. There will be cake. xo
Rebecca - Thank you. We'll pretend I'm wearing a party dress. Will you wear one too, please? We are so hot when we dress up. xo
Elizabeth -Thank you, especially as I know the fullness of your days. I wish I'd discovered curating about six decades ago. Perhaps I did but had no simple way to share it. My own wee museum. xo
Dearest Twincess, and what a journey it's been! Who knew what would wash up on Elba back in the day? My gratitude is boundless, my joy in your writing, your pondering, your considering, your curating, music interludes and Billington's Cove will only grow on this celebratory day and afterwards. You who have given so much are so loved. xo
Happy Birthday, Dear Blogging Friend!
Melissa - Thank you, Dearest Twincess. Who knew any of it? And who doesn't love a birthday. Yes, there was cake. Saved generous slices for you and Sir John, a wee bit for Taz as it isn't chocolate. xo
Kass - Thank you, and thank you for all the times you show up to ride shotgun. xo
Hello Marylinn...Happy 7th blog birthday! I have been toying with the idea of blogging again....I was surprised to see several who had stopped blogging, re-appear! Maybe it is a "sign"...we will see....but I send you hugs and smiles.
Donna - Hello, hugs and great smiles back. So nice to see you. Seven years simply happens, one foot in front of the other. I say, if you miss blogging, give yourself the gift of starting again. The only rules are the ones you create. With a blog or commitment along those lines, one's mind can't be left to drift indefinitely. At some point, an idea has to be found. That's a good thing. Let me know what you decide, will you please. And thank you. Take care. xo
Hi, Marylyn...I too loved this illustrator. Spotlighted her in my recent post on my blog. Are you also familiar with picture bookmakers.com where I think Maria first got hold of this illustrator? Are you a big a fan of Brainpickers as I am! Fabulous resource; love the way Maria blends so many resources toward the point of the post.
Diane - I have found a number of illustrators, international, from the FB posts of Alice Vegrova and Skattie Cat. The latter shared JiHyeon Lee recently so when it was time to have a blog topic, I googled her and her art. Thank you for picturebookmakers.com, that was all I needed! A couple years ago (I think it was) I began encountering artists on FB whose work was like putting a fork into an electrical socket and, as I could, I've gotten books which they've illustrated (I've always loved and collected children's books). Maria is remarkable, so much there to broaden our horizons. Growing up, my family often used the expression, "A mind like a steel trap." Her's exceeds that. Oh, to be able to retain so much information. Nice to see you here, thank you for your comment. I've saved you a piece of cake. xo
